The mouse remains in this compartment until you open the release door to let him go. Air holes in the top and sides of the container allow him to breathe comfortably until he’s set free.
Since no-kill traps don’t create a messy clean-up project, you can simply rinse and re-use the container. Just add more bait and re-set the spring door.
Note: Humane traps have another advantage in that they are safe around kids, pets or other animals. Unlike poison, glue traps or traditional spring-loaded traps, you don’t have to worry about any injuries or accidental deaths.

Humane Rat Traps:
Alternatively, you can use no-kill traps to catch rats and larger animals such as voles or squirrels. Like the plastic devices above, these metal wire traps allow for humane catch and release.
However, these versions are bigger and have heavy-duty wire mesh than animals can chew through. In addition, the rust-proof cage will last for many years.
This larger version costs more, at about $20 apiece. However, the ease-of-use, humane capture and prevention of house damage makes these gadgets priceless.
